Can another one be built?

The hardware files and firmware source are public. Rev B2 is a prototype that needs board corrections before another phone can be built. Assembled boards, kits and ready-to-flash images are not available.

Before ordering a board

The hardware project uses KiCad 10.0.5. Open the root project for the current design; the ZIP files in Ordering/ record past fabrication runs and predate post-assembly corrections. Read the Rev B2 faults and required rework and the manufacturing notes, then regenerate fabrication outputs from the current project.

What a physical build would require

To build a phone, you would need:

  1. A Nokia 3210 donor phone with a serviceable enclosure, LCD, keypad, audio parts, springs and mechanical hardware.
  2. A corrected six-layer PCB design and a checked parts list.
  3. Professional fine-pitch assembly, followed by inspection and careful testing of the board.
  4. An appropriate SIM and a network that provisions the Telit module for the intended LTE/VoLTE service.
  5. A service/recovery connection through the battery-bay pogo interface and a tested firmware image.

These are the main requirements; detailed assembly and test instructions are not yet available.

Firmware builds

A complete phone build needs your own copy of the required original Nokia firmware image. The build checks its hash before generating the interface assets locally. See the exact input requirements.

Follow DCP-3's build guide for the toolchain, commands and recovery procedure. There are two configurations:

Availability

Neither repository has a packaged release yet, and there is no date for a kit or ready-to-flash image. Plans for the next revision are on Status: what's next.
